Food, Farming and a 21st Century Renaissance

Event date:
Monday, October 16, 2017 - 11:00 to Friday, October 20, 2017 - 11:00
With Colin Tudge, Ruth West, Stephan Harding and Tim Crabtree, guests Geetie Singh and Ed Hamer
Consider the huge gap between what’s happening in the world – the misery, the destruction – and what could be happening! We seem to be staring Armageddon in the face – scientists and popes are agreed on this – yet we could, and should, be looking forward to the next million years – and continue, through all that time and beyond, to enjoy the company of our fellow creatures. The present mass extinction is not inevitable. It results from bad practise rooted in a seriously crude conception of and attitude to our fellow human beings and to the biosphere – a conception which, alas, passes as modernity.
In this short course we will explore in theoretical terms what needs to be done to put things right – to which the short answer is “Everything!” We need nothing less than a Renaissance
